SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS- Nov. 30, 2022 - Owners Candace Roddam and her husband Aekkasit Roddam, a Thailand native, started the Thai joint over a year and a half ago with dreams of bringing authentic Thai food to the city of San Antonio. The two met in Thailand when Candace was pursuing her teaching career, which prompted the start of their journey. Their emphasis on Thailand's authentic tastes is what makes the restaurant so successful. "We both have a love for Thai food, and we brought all our favorite things back with us and put it on the menu," says Candace.
Stop by the Pearl Farmers Market this season and get your Thai cravings curbed at King Khao Thai Food. This place truly brings you to the unique tastes of Thailand, with dishes such as the mango sticky rice, a tasty sweet sticky rice served with fresh mango and topped with coconut milk, and the Khao Kha Moo, a slow braised pork served with jasmine rice, bok choy, and spicy garlic sauce.
Candace recommends the Thai omelet, a popular dish made with pasteurized eggs and tomato, served over jasmine rice and topped with cilantro and sweet chili sauce.
The Thai spot even offers seasonal foods; right now, pumpkin curry is in season. But a couple of weeks from now, massaman curry will be served. Better yet, stop by this location during the summer to try out their cold noodle salad.
Running a small business is challenging, especially given that they are both parents of a three-year-old, but one that has been rewarding for Candace and her husband. The couple makes it work, given Aekkasit's roots in Thailand and their combined love for authentic Thai food.
Visit the Pearl Farmers Market, 312 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78215, to try out this authentic Thai place.
