San Antonio’s Newest Pizzeria and Wine Bar Brings a Taste of Texapoletana to the Historic River Walk

Chef Jessica Makdisi developed a menu of food items and curated a wine and beer list that uniquely displays local flavors.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - AUGUST 9, 2022 - Fiume [fyoo-me] Pizzeria and Wine Bar is one of the newest riverwalk restaurants in San Antonio, TX.Texapoletana - a word you haven't heard before- best describes the unique menu offerings you'll find at Fiume Pizzeria and Wine Bar.

Nestled alongside the bustling sidewalks of downtown San Antonio near the Arneson River Theater, you can't miss its signature Ferrari-red Fiero oven on its open-air patio. Menu items feature various Texas-sourced products from farms, wineries, and breweries around the state, spotlighting the vast diversity of the state's offerings. Texas-sourced menu highlights include our hydroponically grown True Harvest lettuces topped with Zesty Texas olive oil, Texas Heat Pizza - made with a combination of Texas smoked bacon and Italian sweet peppers, and for dessert - our homemade gelato featuring local berries.

The wild yeast utilized in each pizza was cultivated in the first months of the pandemic. Since then, this fermented "mother" has given the dough a natural, deep yeast flavor that commercial yeast lacks. Chef Jessica takes the primary inspiration and baking processes from the authentic Neapolitan pizza and pushes the flavors in new and exciting directions highlighting Texas ingredients. The front-of-house operations will be managed by Shea Tupy, who brings 16 years of experience to the position.
