Community and craft beer go hand in hand at Free Roam Brewing Company, a brewery in Boerne, TX.

BOERNE - "For most of us, having a three-time world championship baseball career in San Francisco would be the high point of our lives. For Jeremy Affeldt, it was the foundation for his true calling, empowering the youth, feeding the hungry, and protecting the vulnerable."

Inspired by a love for California craft beer, Affeldt and co-founders Brandon Phillips and Jaron Shepherd have brought a thriving brewery in Boerne to life on Main St.

"I just fell in love with the process of craft beer and what a brewery can bring to a community." Affeldt told Eat Drink Local Texas in an interview, "That's what drove me to start a give-back brewery here in Boerne."

"We chose the name Free Roam and the mascot of a buffalo because they are animals that are known to charge storms- storms pass quicker when they run towards out of them, and I feel like this relates to my outlook on life. I've witnessed hardships myself and I want to help the community by giving back and using this brewery as a communication tool. Anyone can come in and talk things out with some good drinks."

Affeldt's personal favorite drink available from the brewery's current guest draft selections is the Hazy Wonder IPA which is a smooth, tropical ferment with a light and slightly bitter mouthfeel.

In addition to the brewery's typical operations, Affeldt also is a host of the 'Built For The Storm' podcast, which is recorded inside of the same building and includes a large window for guests to see and listen to the podcast live.

With a warm interior, delicious IPA beer, and partnerships with delicious diversified food trucks outside, Free Roam Brewery in Boerne, TX, is a welcoming environment that puts the community's comfort first.
